SmartViewer allows you to create groupings of cameras for quick recall. You specify the tile split-screen pattern and which cameras to display and where.
If the favorite panel is grayed out, you need to add your device(s) to a group.
Go to the setup menu > Device tab
Click the Add Group Button.
To rename the group, select it and press F2.
Select the camera on the left side, and then select the group on the right. Press the > to assign a device to a group.
Repeat for all devices.
On the Live screen, select the group from the drop down and click the Connect button.
Now the Favorite panel will be available.
